Techfrica, an entertainment-based tech company has officially unveiled a new application called Fricavideo.

Fricavideo will give artists and entertainers the platform to sell out their music and movies to the world in order to increase their returns.

TechFrica was developed by Sierra Leonean- Al-Hassan Hafiz Bakarr-Kanu Jr in 2014 with the aim of using technology to combat the issues encountered by Africans in the entertainment industry.

The company’s latest service, Fricavideo, is a platform that will give African artists the opportunity to subscribe to the application with a minimum of hundred thousand Leones which will last for one month, so that the artist can upload their videos and gain more viewers.

Aziz Koroma, Operations Manager, said Fricavideo is faster than YouTube, and that it is easy to access, adding that they have already signed three artists who have already begun making money on the platform.

"We have already been contacted by people from Nigeria, Ghana and even Liberia, but we have to pay more attention to Sierra Leone," he said.

This is not the first time Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Bakarr-Kanu has created a platform to support artistes in Sierra Leone.

In 2005, he created a media company called African Radio the BIG Voice of Africa to give a voice to African talents by giving them adequate airplay, followed by the creation of over 20 franchise stations representing most of African, European and Asian countries.

In the same year, he also established Audiofrica as a platform for African artists and music for the artist to earn money which later led to the recent rollout of the Fricavideo platform, to further support artistes.
